Exciting Expansion of Wellness Foundation's "Food For Life" Program

Food For Life was created by Wellness Foundation and inspired by the award winning curriculum "Food Is Elementary" by Dr. Antonia Demas.

Food for Life is a fun, hands on program that empowers children and families to take control of their health destines and become the "Generation of Change" rather than the predicted first generation in history to have a shorter lifespan than their parents. Using an interactive and intergenerational approach the program encourages the development of optimal nutrition habits, regular physical exercise and healthy self esteem. The program has been well received by the students, their families and school administrators and faculty.

The program is unique because children and parents learn about nutrition together in a neutral environment. It encourages a positive relationship with whole foods for the children by preparing healthy and delicious foods with their peers. It teaches children and their families how to use whole foods to prevent disease through optimal nutrition.

This September, Food For Life will continue in the sixth grade at East Hampton Middle School and will expand to the sixth grade at Springs School and we will pilot a new third grade program at John Marshall Elementary. Food For Life plans to be in every public school from Sag Harbor to Montauk in the next five years.
