Success Stories Fall 2006 Harold McMahon My story goes back years ago when the doctors put me on Lipitor and a blood pressure pill called monopril. At the time I thought it was the only way of controlling a cholesterol and blood pressure problem. Then in February of 2005 I could not get insurance because the insurance company requested a physical exam and the results indicated an elevated cpk reading resulting in them not insuring me. Apparently my muscle tissue was being eaten up by the lipitor to a point that concerned the insurance people but it was an acceptable reading according to the doctor. When I confronted the medical doctor about the situation he said to get off the lipitor, limit the intake of red meat to once a week and start eating oatmeal. Well this got me thinking what all the medication was doing to my body. Keep in mind I still had an elevated cholesterol and blood pressure condition. I found it extremely difficult to get some real direction of what type of diet I should follow. I took it upon myself to start eating salads, fruits and oatmeal, and started going to the gym for at least one hour a day. After three months I saw a significant reduction in my blood pressure and cholesterol. But then in December of 2005 I went to a wellness meeting in East Hampton and met Mr. Douglas Mercer. We had lunch together shortly there after and Mr. Mercer arranged an appointment with Dr. Joel Fuhrman in Flemington, New Jersey. Dr. Fuhrman is the author of Eat To Live and he told me that if I follow his recommended eating habits I could eliminate all medication. Since changing my diet and exercising, my cholesterol level has been lowered over 50 pts, the cpk level went from 720 to 197 and my blood pressure has gone from 140/92 with medicine to 110/70 and NO medicine. No meats or dairy and a nice diet of fruits and vegetables and don't forget the oatmeal. Thank you Mr. Mercer and Dr. Fuhrman! |
